Toyota To Release Four 30-Second Asian Inspired Short Films

Toyota has launched a new all-electric advertising campaign with four brand new 30-Second films from Grammy Award winning filmmaker Joseph Kahn. These new short films will be inspired by Asian action films while also showcasing the Toyota’s growing electric vehicle line-up, and their features.

To bring the films to life, and lend them their star powers, Toyota and Joseph Kahn has tapped the talented John Cho and Kal Penn. The first two out, already and viewable today is Jangal and Chase featuring Kal Penn, with Camping and Escape to be released shortly featuring John Cho.

Matthew Choy, the executive director of strategy and creative at Intertrend Communications, stated “We wanted to create something that feels like entertainment first. By drawing inspiration from Asian cinema and collaborating with incredible talent like John Cho, Kal Penn and Joseph Kahn, we were able to craft a campaign that reflects the richness of Asian storytelling while showcasing Toyota’s growing all-electric vehicle family.” So there is a lot of expectations coming from this brand new set of Toyota cinematic short films.

Kal Penn has stated, “Toyota has genuinely been part of my life for years, so this campaign felt personal from the beginning. My very first car was a Toyota Paseo, and the first brand-new car I ever bought was a Toyota Prius. There’s a real trust and familiarity I’ve always associated with the brand, so getting to partner on something this fun and creative made it even more meaningful for me.” So you can tell he really connects to this campaign.

Additionally, John Cho stated, “It’s exciting to see a campaign embrace Asian storytelling influences in such a bold and authentic way while also creating something audiences can genuinely enjoy watching.” So you have a lot to look forward to as they drop more of the 30-Second shorts.
