  • So, let’s sliiiiide on over and check out the star of the show!

    Spotlight on Goomy

The Pokedex tells us that Goomy prefers dark, humid places like swamps and puddles underneath trees. It’s covered in slimy mucus that helps keep it protected from physical attacks by making them slip n’ slide right off! Which is great news for Goomy as it is the weakest Dragon Type. In Pokemon GO it’s stats are Max CP of 1103. Compared to other similar first-stage Dragons like Dratini (1136) Bagon (1307) Gible (1258) or Deino (1200) this looks to be true!

Being that we don’t have access to the Hisuian variants of these Pokemon we’ll concentrate on the Kalosian versions of Sliggoo and Goodra. (When I saw which Pokemon was announced for this event I would have bet you cold, hard Poke-Yen that this was going to be the day they released Hisuian Sliggoo and Goodra. Guess I would’a been more out of pocket than someone on a losing streak in the Kanto game corner.)

Sliggoo is obtainable with the use of 25 candies. The Pokedex tells us that it is eyeless, earless and basically relies entirely on its gooey little antenna for information about the world. It sprays food down with caustic mucus before slurping up the dissolved mess that it’s created… and sometimes? That mess is comprised of Pokemon it otherwise likes. Oof. It just doesn’t know enough about the world around it to be a good friend and that’s kind of sad in a way.

Goodra is obtained while evolving Sliggoo in the area of a Rainy Lure Module so be sure to stock up!

The Pokedex tells us that Goodra is a super friendly Pokemon! It showers its trainer with slimy hugs and other goopy affections. I’d believe it – it goes from an eyeless abomination to having one of the cutest faces in all of Pokemon. If angered, though, it will strike you with a punch more powerful than any pro boxer could dream of. This definitely plays into the Community Day exclusive move.

Still! Can it knock out it’s opponents in Pokemon GO?

    Spotlight on Goodra

With a Max CP of 3505, 220 Attack, Defense of 242, and a Stamina of 207 it’s definitely not bad amongst its non-legendary Dragon Type peers! It lacks the raw firepower of Garchomp’s 261 Attack stat or Salamence’s massive 277… but it DOES out-bulk both of them plus it lacks any dual weaknesses being a monotype. Speaking of:

It’s a Dragon Type so it’s weak to Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-type moves, and offers Resistance to Electric, Fire, Water, and Grass-type moves. No pesky weakness double-ups or neutral damage from Electric Type moves.

In terms of Fast Attacks, you have Dragon Breath and Water Gun. For Charged Attacks you get Sludge Wave, Power Whip, Draco Meteor, and Muddy Water. The Community Day option of Thunder Punch is going to help in regards to coverage against any Water/Ice Types who might come into play with their Ice Type moves.

Shiny Goomy is highly noticeable due to it’s yellow body instead of it’s traditional lavender one. Nice and easy to spot!

And that’s all I’ve got for you, Trainers! Be safe out there, be kind to one another and have a lot of fun! I’m over here wishing you the absolute best of luck!
