Rants And Reviews: Pocket Samurai Fulfilled!

It’s Friday, and that means it’s time to once again talk about a weekly board game! This time we are checking out Pocket Samurai from Questing Gentlemen.

It’s been a little under a year since the conclusion of Questing Gentlemen’s Kickstarter for Pocket Samurai. Now that the actual product has been received, we wanted to check to see where it stacked up to our demo from the year prior at San Diego Comic-Con.

What better a time than actually during San Diego Comic-Con?

First of all, the game is still pocket-sized fitting in a box that is more like a card tuck box than it is a board game box. I always worry that boxes with these type of tops are going to crack or snap with heat or overuse, that being said, it is pretty good quality and the print job is very nice. The color scheme and design of the box matches that of the demo box that we saw at the convention.

The game itself comes with card covers so that you can protect the cards from use over time. I’m not really a huge fan of these sleeves as they can affect the tactile play of the cards. But it’s nice that it’s included.

Overall, gameplay is exactly identical. Nothing has changed or rebalancing from what I can tell since I demo’ed it with one of the Creator’s friends at the convention.
