Josh Brolin was born on February 12, 1968 in Santa Monica, California, to the son of a casting director and actor James Brolin. Oddly Brolin was mostly shielded from his father’s acting career.
While he started in guest roles on TV shows, his first real breakout role was in the 1985 film The Goonies.
While Brolin has acted for a while, he saw a decline in his career as an actor until 2007 when his role in No Country for Old Men which reinvigorated and renewed his career.
While he has stared in four films as Thanos, in more of a massive role in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, it wasn’t his only role in a Marvel film franchise as he also took on the role of Cable in Deadpool 2 at the exact same time!
Thanos was not the first role that Josh Brolin took on, as he in the past, 4 years prior to Thanos, as Jonah Hex in a DC live action movie.
With his representation of three different notible comic book characters, we are choosing three of our favorite Thanos comic books to share on Brolin’s birthday!

The Invincible Iron Man #55 (1972) I always forget that Thanos was first and foremost an Iron Man villian. In his first appearance Drax warns Iron Man of the Blood Brothers, who take Drax to Thanos on Titan. While they get the upperhand, it ends with Thanos escaping, and still on the horizon for more evil plans. |

Spidey Super Stories #39 (1978) One of many stories, starting off with The Cat And The Cosmic Cube in which Thanos, in his Thanos Copter, faces off against “The Hellcat” as they fight over the Cosmic Cube. Within the series, it’s the less serious Thanos that we are used to, and he even steals the Cosmic Cube from a child who just wanted ice cream when granted infinite power. This is the birth of the famous and well laughed at Thanos Copter. |
