Holland America Line Reveals Bar 1873 For Evolution Upgrade

The Holland America Evolution is an upgrade that blends new venues and enhanced experiences with the style and opportunities that Holland America Line is known for. Accross the upgraded ships, the public spaces and accommodations have been upgraded and expanded.

Now Holland America Line has unveiled Bar 1873 for the Oosterdam, which will be a stunning tribute to more than 150 years of maritime heritage. The bar will be a two-story atrium venue with an illuminated tulip sculpture. The space will also have curated heritage displays and comfortable lounges designed for cocktails, conversation, and intimate entertainment. Bar 1873 will feature live piano performances, pre-dinner cocktail hours, and select appearances from vocalists and Holland America Line’s Vivace musicians.

On the Oosterdam, the venue’s theme will be “May She Be Blessed,” which honors the maritime tradition of ship christenings. Specifically the 1958 christening of Rotterdam V by Queen Juliana of the Netherlands, and Holland America Line’s connection to the Dutch royal family. The Oosterdam’s Bar 1873 will also feature a celebratory cocktail named the same as the inspiration “May She Be Blessed.”

Future ships, besides the Oosterdam, will also have their own interpretation of the venue, choosing a different story from the cruise line’s more than 150-year history.

Additionally, as part of the Oosterdam’s enhancements, the Crow’s Nest will be reimagined and refreshed to offer more flexibility, activities, and entertainment throughout the day and evening.
