Movies and Videos On Demand For The Week Of May 16, 2025

Bound – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 91%

Bella, played by Alexandra Faye Sadeghian, seems to be bound to her mentally ill Uncle, set to ruin her life. However, when she flees to New York, she enlists a group of new friends and found family to help her make a new life. When her Uncle shows up in New York though, will they be enough to help her get away from him forever.

The dark story of abusive family members is all to real in life. If you have tragedy in your life akin to this, I might not recommend this film to you. However, if you love drama, and want to see if Bella can break free, then this will be an interesting watch for sure.

A Breed Apart – Releasing in Limited Theaters and Streaming

When Violet, played by Grace Caroline Currey, receives an invitation to a private island along with famous social influencers, she thinks she’s made it in the world. The other shoe drops though when she learns she is to be pitted against man-eating dogs for her survival.

It’s like survivor with actual danger. I have to be honest, the film looks like a low grade horror film from the posters and the theme, but they seem to have roped Hayden Panettiere into the film, and the premise seems funny enough to hold me attention for a film. I’d give it a try.

Final Destination: Bloodlines – Releasing in Theaters

Whyen violent recurring nightmares hits college student Stefanie, played by Kaitlyn Santa Juana, as she begins to head home, she is looking for anyone that can help her prevent the deaths of her family and friends before it’s too late.

Look, I love the Final Destination movies, they have no stakes other then watching people die and narrowly die in horrible ways. I will say though, I am glad to see Tony Todd reprising his role as William Bludworth. I only hope we get to see a little more lore.

Hurry Up Tomorrow – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

The Weeknd is plauged by insomnia, however when a mysterious stranger visits him, he pulls him in a direction that begins to unravel his existence and core beliefs. Or is he just sleep deprived?

I have no idea what The Weeknd is doing these days. Having attended all of his Mazes at Halloween Horror Nights, I still don’t know what the point and purpose of them are, but I have a feeling that this is just once again a weird view into how his thoughts process.

Southern Fried Romance – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

When a New York businessman, played by Alec Bridges, is forced to travel to the south to close a major deal, he meets a cowgirl, played by Astra-lia England, named… checks notes… Dixie… that will change the course of his life forever.

I’m not going to lie, this doesn’t sound like a Hallmark movie, this looks like an SNL skit of what a Hallmark movie is. But hey, the things work because people love a cheesy and sappy romance story. So if that’s what you need this week, please feel free to enjoy.
