Movies For The Week Of June 13, 2025

How To Train Your Dragon – Releasing in Theaters

In a world where dragons are monsters, one boy after accidently capturing one, learns that not all they know is correct, and discovers an entire new world that can be explored when you put aside hate.

A live action version of the animated first film. Normally I would be negative about these films, but it has all the existing members of creative talent, and even sees the return of Gerard Butler in his original role. Further more, it’s amazingly looks beautiful and they’ve mastered the look from the animated series. I only hope they continue and make all of the films as well.

Materialists – Releasing in Theaters

Lucy, played by Dakota Johnson, is a matchmaker in New York. She has mastered a lot of relationships, but never could make things work with her imperfect ex. However, when a hearthrobe played by Pedro Pascal begins to show her interest, she is forced to decide what she wants, the dream mate, or all the imperfections of her past relationship.

It’s interesting to see Chris Evans to be considered as imperfect, but comparing having to choose between Reed Richards and Johnny Storm, it’s easy to see how hard of a choice that can be. If you want a movie that is romance with comedy, then this is for you this week.

Meat The Movie – Releasing in Theaters

A fatal overdose kills a gay man, and an innocent person is framed for the act. Years later, when the bystander is released, a killer starts to track down and kill the actual guilty parties from the night of the death.

This feels like a mixture of the AIDs season of American Horror Story and I Know What You Did Last Summer. However, if you are looking for a horror film, and appreciate the gay world theming, then this film is worth a watch.

Miley Cyrus: Something Beautiful – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Lead by music and Miley Cyrus’s new album of the same name, Something Beautiful is a one of a kind pop opera with notes of fantasy.

If you love the works of Miley Cyrus, and want an unique way to experience her music, then this visual album, mixed by Alan Meyerson, will give you that option.

The Unholy Trinity – Releasing in Theaters

Set in 1870s Montana and dealing with the execution of Isaac Broadway. Now, Isaac’s son, Henry, is tasked to find the man who framed his father. However, his journey takes him to the town of Trinity and forces him to be caught between the sheriff and a mysterious man.

A blend of action, suspense, and western themes, if you like the genres, then you’ll likely love the fact that this film includes performances from Samuel L. Jackson, Pierce Brosnan, and Brandon Lessard. It’s an all-star ensemble and will likely deliver an amaziong performance.
