Movies and Videos On Demand For The Week Of June 30, 2023

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 54%

When his Goddaughter, played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, comes to Indiana Jones, played by Harrison Ford, to retreive a dial that could change the past, he is forced to once again face off against a Nazi, played by Mads Mikkelsen, although he has joined forces with the USA’s NASA.

It’s getting lambalsted by reviews recently, but Mikkelsen, Waller-Bridger and Antonio Banderas are all in this film. I am really excited to see this, and it can’t be as bad as Crystal Skull.

Prisoner’s Daughter – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 60%

Max, played by Brian Cox, is diagnosed with Terminal Cancer, so after 12 years he is released from prison. Now Max is given one last chance to reconsile with his daughter Maxine, played by Kate Beckinsale. But Max has a history of violence that still ripples through his life.

This is an interesting story, dealing with the path of redemption, and can someone actually find it? This is a high concept drama, so keep that in mind before purchasing your ticket.

Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

When Ruby Gillman, played by Lana Condor, discovers that she is a decendant of the Kraken Queens, it puts her normal teen life in question. This is made worse by the fact that the new popular girl in school, Chelsea, played by Annie Murphy, just so happens to be a mermaid who has been enemies of her ancestors for eons.

Reminds me a bit of Turning Red, this film however I’m happy to see Annie Murphy working more, and it’s interesting seeing Mermaids as enemies and Krakens are the heroes.

The Unseen – Releasing in Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

A law student, played by RJ Mitte, is brought to his breaking point when a dark force from his past leads him into a fractured world of murder and lies.

I am so excited to see RJ Mitte in more roles. He likely had to deal with a lot of people only seeing him as the young star of Breaking Bad, and frankly seeing him in promos for El Camino, I couldn’t wait to see him in new roles.

Warhorse One – Releasing in Theaters and Streaming a Week Later
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Set during the 2021 withdrawl of the US Army from Afganistan. This film covers the downing of a SEAL helicopter and Master Chief Richard Mirko, played by Johnny Strong, as he must evade insurgents after surviving the crash, and bring a young girl to safety.

Produced, written, and directed, by the main actor, this film is a war drama. So take that in consideration. It’s a high drama dealing with a lot of pain that is still pretty recent in many minds. Take that into consideration before watching it.
