Movies For The Week Of July 12, 2024

Fly Me To The Moon – Releasing in Theaters

With the fear that the moon landing might not happen, the White House hires Kelly Jones, played by Scarlett Johansson, a marketing agent, to help protect NASA’s image. However, the Apollo 11 director, Cole Davis, played by Channing Tatum, is pushed to the limits as Jones as she wants to replace Astronauts with models, and film the moon landing ahead of time in case things go wrong.

A comedy, that of course plays with the public’s belief that the moon landing is faked, but this connects on some level. There is a lot of people who believe that dead astronauts were seen after explosions, if NASA used models to protect their image, that would make sense…

Longlegs – Releasing in Limited Theaters

An FBI agent, played by Maika Monroe, attempts to hunt down a serial killer, with the plan to end his murderous spree. However, to get a hold of him, and stop him, she will have to follow and solve a series of occult clues that he left behind.

Nicolas Cage is involved in this film, and frankly I’m keeping myself in the dark as his role, but I’m definitely interested to see where this film goes!

Lumina – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

When a friend of theirs disappears in an abduction, the four friends will search all over the world and online until one of them discovers that they think their friend is located within an underground military base. Are they really there, or have they gotten in too deep?

From the concepts of a corrupt and secretive government to the alien concepts of UFOs, this movie runs a large variety of theories and mentalities. But it appears to be a solid sci-fi thriller for anyone this week.

Touch – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

When a widower’s life is running out, he thinks back to a past love, his first love from 50 years prior. With no reason not to reach out and discover what happened, he reaches and heads out on an emotional journey.

This story is told over decades, locations and time, and that’s very interesting and engaging. The story follows his memory as he reaches into his past for a shred of happiness.

Vedaa – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Living in a repressive world a woman, played by Sharvari Wagh, struggles to raise up against those that would hold her down.

This is a Hindi film, and it might be outside the normal realms of the average film viewers, but if you are looking for an action/drama this week and are willing to take a chance on a foreign film, then this could be it!
