Movies and Videos On Demand For The Week Of November 29, 2024

Father & Soldier – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 75%

When a father, played by Omar Bakary, discovers that his teenage son has enlisted in the army to fight the Germans in World War I, to make sure his son is safe, he enlists as well and they must survive the trenches of France.

If you are a fan of history, or like war dramas, then this will be a pretty okay film in that style of subjects.

Heavier Trip – Releasing in Limited Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

The worlds most well known death metal band, Impaled Rektum, is in jail. However, when a member of the band’s family reindeer slaughter house is about to be closed, Turo, played by Johannes Holopainen, and his band mates Lotvonen, Xytrax, and Oula break out of a Norwegian prison to help save the day. Their journey to raise the money on the way to the famous Wacken Music festival, while their jailer is hot on their trail. While fortune seems to be offering them an out with an record label deal, could it be a fortune, or will it simply just compromise their integrity.

This reminds me a lot of the rock film Airheads with Branden Fraiser, but with a foreign and over the top influence of Norwegian Death Metal. Think Airheads meets Metalocalypse. This however is also a sequel to Heavy Trip.

Moana 2 – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

When Moana, voiced by Auli’i Cravalho, discovers a call to unite her people accross the ocean by stepping foot on a legendary island, she brings the ire of a power more powerful then she has faced before. She will have to turn to a crew of unlikely seafarers, and Maui, to be able to acheive her goal.

The story takes place after a time jump and creates a unique experience in Disney, to see characters grow and develop. Moana is now an older sister, and a leader amoung her people. Adding in the fact that she has a new challenge, this film stands to be a fun adventure.

The Seed of the Sacred Fig – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 94%

Centering on a family in Tehran when Iman, played by Missagh Zareh, is appointed to be an investigating judge. However, as the political unrest further unfolds, Iman realizes the job is more dangerous for him and his familty then he realized.

This film was shot entirely in secret and was an award-winning thriller from Mohammad Rasoulof. If you can stand foreign films, then I highly recommend this darling film!

September 5 – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 86%

An American sports broadcaster, played by Peter Sarsgaard, and his crew is covering the 1972 Munich Olympics when a hostage crisis regarding Israeli athletes captivates the world.

If you watch this film, I’d highly recommend you watch Munich as a follow-up to the events that follow this terrorist event.
