When his ship crashes on a dangerous planet, the pilot, played by Adam Driver, and the only other survivor, played by Ariana Greenblatt, must make their way through a planet that turns out to be Earth 65 million years prior. Can they survive, and if they do what is the point of surviving?

While this is very similar to the plot of After Earth and Planet of the Apes, this film succeeds based not only on it’s amazing main actor, but the fact that hopefully there isn’t a gimmic.

Champions – Releasing in Theaters

When minor-league basketball coach, played by Woody Harrelson, gets in trouble, the court forces him to teach and manage a team of players with intellectual disabilities. What starts off as a punishment, becomes much more to him as he connects with the group.

While Woody Harrelson has some heat on him right now due to the SNL monologue, this film still looks amazing and inspiring. Madison Tevlin is amazing in this film, and the story is heartwarming without being wooden or saccharin.

The Magic Flute – Releasing in Theaters

Tim, played by Jack Wolfe, is a talented teen who has an aspiration to be a singer. However, when the harsh realities of his dreams become difficult, he discovers a gateway that takes him to a fantastical land where imagination runs the world and is unbound by reality.

If you are a fan of mystical and fantasy stories, then you will likely love this film. Take a moment to escape reality just like Jack Wolfe.

Scream VI – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

When the four survivors of the last Woodboro slaughters made in the name of Ghostface, leave and head to New York, Ghostface returns. Now it will take a couple survivors to help them through it all.

I’m torn. I love the Scream series, and would love to jump back into the world of Scream, but without Neve Campbell the series is not the same. If you love horror though this one is trying to change things up a bit as well. It at least still has Courteney Cox, but it still makes me sad.

The Siege – Releasing in Theaters and shortly later on Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Walker, an assassin played by Daniel Stisen, was compromised and needs to lay low while waiting for his new identity. However, when he stumbles upon a woman and her ward who is being hunted by an assault team, he sees something in them and risks everything to help them survive the night.

If you are looking for an action film this week, and liked films like Shoot’em Up, then while this isn’t as over the top as the prior listed title, it is full of action and violence.
