San Diego Comic Con has always had a large variety of panels and there is always something for everyone. This year it’s a lot easier to get into any panel you want thanks to the virtual nature. So with that in mind, we thought we’d share some of the panels that help out the little guy or are more inclusive of the industry.

Hollywood Game Changers: A Conversation with the Women Behind Popular Film and TV Projects

Back for the second time, this panel will feature women behind projects Halston, Shadow & Bone, Why Women Kill, and more! Panelists Mairzee Almas, Jeriana San Juan, Macy Schmidt, Jennifer Smith, and Monica Sotto talk about how they inspire women empowerment, diversity, and inclusion in the industry. Joy Donnel moderates.

Ray Harryhausen: Celebrating the Legacy of a Titan

The panel will talk about Ray Harryhausen, the master of stop-motion animation. In addition, the panel will discuss the Ray and Diana Harryhausen Foundation’s new film awards program, which will begin accepting entries on January 1, 2022. The awards will include Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Best Student Film, Best Commercial Film, Best Online Film, Best Television, and the Harryhausen Hall of Fame Award, all of which are focusing on Animation.

Flip it and Reverse it: YA Authors Reimagine Genre.

Authors Kalynn Bayron, Alexis Nedd, Lilliam Rivera, and Katie Zhao will discuss how they have made their stories to remake, reclaim, and reimagine genres to center their communities.

San Diego Comic Con’s “@ Home” event is virtual and free, so if you have the time, you should definitely join a couple of panels.
