During a time and age in which retail workers are leaving their jobs in droves, corporations are complaining that they can’t find employees who are willing to “work” for a living, (subtext: for the abysmal pay that we were are willing to pay them), physical stores are moving away from physical spaces for online marketplaces, one company believes that they have a solution… for the corporation at least.

Personally here at our Nerd News Social, we always stand on the side of the employees. The idea of taking away the value of an employee and replacing it with a monitor will never fully be a solution for retail companies, no matter how much idiotic mega-corporations believe it will be. However there are some companies that specifically could benefit from this option. Companies like Best Buy have created dedicated employees that just stand at the front of the store and answer stupid questions from the customers while pointing to departments via their large overhanging indicators that say “Televisions” and not moving from that position for hours. Placing one of these Brand Ambassadors at the front of the store to answer basic questions and direct would free up employees to be actual sales persons, dedicated to zones and helping customers so they don’t abandon stores to online marketplaces where soulless uber companies force employees to pee in jugs to get packages out in time. What a novel concept! Dedicated employees to actually help customers.
