After a failed TV documentary for Charles Shultz never made it to the finish line, the producer, Lee Mendelson, brought on the composer from it, Vince Guaraldi, to start a long-lasting and fruitful relationship with a Bay Area jazz pianist. Vince Guaraldi, also worked with Fred Marshall, on bass, and Jerry Granelli, on drums. The trio gave Peabuts its musical identity and became a holiday standard due to its work on the film. Afterworlds, Guaraldi continued to score Peanuts specials until his passing in 1976.
Last year was the 75th anniversary celebrations of Peanuts and the 60th anniversary of A Charlie Brown Christmas, whose soundtrack has become the best-selling jazz album of all time, specifically certified as 6X Platinum by the RIAA.
To celebrate that, Craft Recordings, one of the largest collections of master recordings in the world, will offer an array of limited-edition pressings of A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Of the options, the Silver Emerald pressing is now available exclusively at Walmart, with the next drops happening on September 25, 2026, of a picture disc from Barnes & Noble and an Iridescent Snow-colored LP from Target. On October 2, 2026, Urban Outfitters joined into the fun with an exclusive Sapphire colored pressing.
Lastly on November 6, 2026 a liquid-filled “Snow Globe” LP, complete with floating snowflakes, will be released at only 300 copies.
