E3 2019 – DAY 4, TUESDAY JUNE 11TH – NINTENDO CONFERENCE

Nintendo’s conference had a lot of great announcements and new titles, most of which are coming this year. Let’s see what they have in store for us!

Dragon Quest XI Definitive Edition
More mounts, explore other Dragon Quest worlds, more monsters to battle, and an expanded storyline. The music is now fully orchestrated, and you can switch between the HD graphics or the 16-bit graphics style of yore. Pick up your copy on September 27th, 2019 on Switch

Luigi’s Mansion 3

The Mario gang are invited to a beautiful and luxurious hotel, where things quickly turn south. With a Hotel California vibe, the other guests are all the undead, and Luigi’s goal is to not become a permanent resident! Using the new Poltergust G-00, he can suck up those ghosts like so many dust bunnies, burst himself into the air, and move or destroy objects with the plunger attachment. Professor E. Gadd has also given Luigi a weird little buddy — Gooigi. Swap between Luigi and Gooigi to slip through fences, walk on spikes, or otherwise avoid most obstacles that Luigi might not be able to get past by himself. Gooigi also offers a bit of a boost for some other tasks, like moving really big objects that might take double the effort. Just hand the second controller to a friend and they can take over Gooigi at any point in the game!
ScareScraper Mode allows for up to 8 local or online multiplayer co-op challenges, like hide and seek. Releasing sometimes this year.

Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance
Releasing sometime this year, this take on Jim Hensen’s dark fantasy tale comes to life. Play as warriors of Thra, in this turn-based RPG inspired by FF Tactics. The trailer didn’t reveal too much, but if you’re a fan of the Dark Crystal movie from the 80s, I’m sure you’ll also enjoy this strategy RPG coming sometime this year.

Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

Link washes ashore Koholint Island and must escape! This remake of a classic has been remastered, without losing that iconic top-down dungeon style we know and love. Collect items and fight your way through the world to awaken the Wind Fish, so you can find your way home.
A cool new addition to the game is Chamber Dungeons, where you can collect chambers and add them to a dungeon map, then explore your dungeon to your heart’s content. The Chamber Dungeons also net you some rewards!
This epic adventure comes to the Switch on September 20th, 2019.

Trials of Mana
Virtually nothing at all like the Secrets of Mana remake that everyone hated, this action-adventure RPG features updated graphics and a new combat system, with the same story as a previous title. Trials of Mana is getting a global release on Switch early 2020, and you can play the original 3 games on Switch now!

Witcher 3
Ride Roach on your epic quest to find Ciri, in this epic action-adventure RPG. This game is HUGE, so it’s pretty impressive that they were capable to porting it to the Switch. It’s supposed to be almost half the file size, so expect the graphics to take a small hit, but having this game available on a portable console is gonna be amazing.
Coming to Switch later this year, you can now play Gwent whenever and wherever you like!

Fire Emblem: Three Houses
On July 26th, 2019, take part in the worst class reunion ever. The former best friends of your school days are now bitter enemies, engulfed in an intense war. Control your troops on the battlefield in this tactical strategy war game, very soon!

No More Heroes III

Play Travis Touchdown, the last hero/assassin standing, and save the world from robots. Coming to Switch in 2020, this is the first core No More Heroes game in a decade, and the trailer seems to show that we can expect the same wacky nonsense we came to love from the last game.

Daemon X Machina
Defeat the army of AI robots and protect Earth using your mech suit, Arsenal. Collect scrap from other Arsenal units or defeated enemies to give yours an upgrade, and fully customize your character, as well! Play this massive mecha scifi action game solo or online on September 13th, 2019.

Panzer Dragoon
Ride your dragon through gorgeous landscapes, shooting enemies and taking names in this remake of an old classic. Coming this winter.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield

Set in the Galar region, you’ll start the game with either Scorbunny, Grookey, or Sobble. A grass monkey, fire bunny, or water lizard. All are cute, so it probably doesn’t matter! The Pokeball Plus allows you to take Pokemon from this game for a walk to earn in-game benefits. Those benefits were not expanded upon, but I imagine it’s similar to Pokemon Let’s Go, where your Pokemon get more XP for walking with you. We’ll get a release date of November 15th 2019 for this title.

Astral Chain
Earth is under attack by extra-dimensional beings, who are pulling humans into their dimension. The Chimeras can be stopped only by capturing them and syncing them with human operators, and fighting fire with fire. Coming August 30th, 2019

Empire of Sin
To heck with the prohibition! Those dirty coppa’s can’t tell you what to do! Don’t they know who you are? You’re Al Capone! This game is all about the game, see? Brew your own booze, from swill, to high class stuff, down to the stuff that’ll kill that no-good crook who’s trying to move in on your territory. Your choices do matter, though, so if you go lookin’ for trouble, you’re gonna find it. Get arrested for tax evasion and die of a heart attack at the age of 48 (spoiler alert!) in Spring 2020.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3

Just about every Marvel hero and villain come together to defeat Thanos in this massive hack and slash game. Build your ultimate team and play online or offline with up to 4 players on July 19th 2019.
Expansion pack includes stuff from Xmen, Marvel Knights, and Fantastic 4, this fall.

Cadence of Hyrule
