As always, while we do have our monthly Nerd Out article, we like to keep the Halloween events in their own little article, because Los Angeles is no stranger to love for the season, and because there are so any, we would hate for any of them to disappear in the normal list of events.
First and foremost, let’s talk about our returning experiences!
Universal Studios Hollywood – Halloween Horror Nights
This experience is always next level, with a ton of classic styled horror houses, and a couple amazingly new ones like their Stranger Things and Last of Us themed experiences this year.
The thing that makes this Halloween themed event a must of course is their Terror Tram. This takes over the theme parks traditional behind the scenes tram ride, and turns it into a unique experience where everyday Angelinos can walk the backlot without having to pay for the VIP Experience from the park.
The Terror Tram drops you off at Bates Motel and allows you to walk through that set as well as the War of The Worlds and recently added Nope set while also being haunted and harassed by scare actors.
Another way that this experience exceeds expectations is in the use of not just visual and audio to terrorize, but their ability to use smell to the full effect!
Halloween Horror Nights runs at the park from September 5th all the way through October 31st!
Los Angeles Haunted Hayride
Can you even call yourself from Los Angeles if you haven’t participated in Los Angeles’ amazing Haunted Hayride in Griffith Park?
This iconic experience usually boasts around three mazes, and a Hayride experience that can’t be beat either as a group ticket, or sold individually. Access to the experience is free, and includes a couple scare actors in the general area, so if you want an affordable experience, this is definitely it.
They also host a series of food trucks and pop-up eateries inside the event, and last year they had an amazing Halloween themed band performing for the crowd.
While tickets aren’t required, if you are making your way out there, then you can’t avoid the Hayride. It’s a rather long, fun and engaging experience!
Delusion: The Red Castle
Part Show, Part Experience, Delusion has been giving guests to their events a unique narrative story since 2011. Their newest show, The Red Castle will be debuting in their first new location since starting.

Magic of the Jack O’Lanterns Los Angeles
Starting on September 20th and continuing through November 2nd Magic of the Jack O’Lanterns will be coming to Los Angeles. There will be massive pumpkins, hand-carved jack-o’-lanterns, and light displays. This experience is more dedicated for the children, with a series of displays. This includes the sea, a pirate ship, dinosaurs, dragons, and more.
Tickets start at $24.99 for children and $29.99 for adults.
Guests can sign up To learn when tickets drop.
The event will take place at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area, 750 S Santa Anita Ave, South El Monte, CA 91733.
Dark Harbor
Returning to the boat for the first time since the Queen Mary shut down for repairs. This experience will run from September 20th and continuing through to November 2nd.
This is probably one of our favorite experiences because it takes its attendees into less traveled parts of an actually haunted location!

The event is going to be returning to The Queen Mary, 1126 Queens Highway, Long Beach, CA 90802.
So which event are you going to hit this spooky season?
