Bob Baker Marionette Theater Brings Revamped Show For 60th Birthday

Bob Baker is bringing back it’s summer Hooray LA show, an ode to Los Angeles.

The show is designed not only to entertain children, but to celebrate the vibrant and multifaceted history of Los Angeles. In an effort to give the show something special, the experience will feature newly created puppets and sequences!

This year’s presentation will include new additions, cultural and historical updates thanks to the collaboration with local Los Angeles institutions with Natural History Museum of LA County, East Wind Foundation, LA Chinatown Business Improvement District, and local LA artist Loris Lora.

Hooray LA originally was performed for Los Angeles’ bicentennial in 1981. While the show has covered the 1933 earthquake, oil derrick kickline, LA freeways, Venice beach skating, now they are updating the original cultural inaccuracies around the show’s Chinatown sequence and have included a special dragon dance performance. Added a new puppet dedicated to a mammoth stuck in the La Brea Tar Pits. They’ve also included a tribute to P-22, LA’s beloved late mountain lion.

The show will run from July 1, 2023 through September 10, 2023 with a sensory-friendly showing occuring on August 20, 2023 for those that might be a bit more sensitive to the experience.

Tickets cost $25 with only Children under 2 for free.. Pick up your tickets for the event Here.

Keep in mind, while they do not require it, they recommend Non-Cloth Masks for guests over the age of 2.
