NTOLA: Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor 2024 Review

We stopped over to The Queen Mary for Dark Harbor, the first return of the experience since 2019, when COVID and mismanagement of the Queen Mary by the prior owners caused the whole ship to be shut down and blocked from the general public. Now that the boat is in repair, and doing better than ever, their iconic horror maze experience is back and better than ever with a partnership of the original creators of Dark Harbor, and Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group. If Thirteenth Floor sounds familiar, it’s likely due to their amazing Los Angeles Haunted Hayride experience at Griffith Park!

On top of the amazing mazes, the experience will feature live entertainment stages, hidden and public bars, sideshows, DJs, Carnival-esc rides, and axe throwing!

Speaking of Mazes, let’s break them down for you.

There are a total of 5 mazes. Lullaby, Infirmary, Feast, Big Top Terror, and Breakout.

  • Lullaby focuses on the urban legend of Scary Mary, who drowned in the First-Class swimming pool. This new version of the Lullaby maze takes the attendees to the depths of the Queen Mary to visit the first-class swimming pool. It’s here at this pool that the playful, yet sinister Scary Mary will accost and guide them toward a watery grave.
We love this specific section of the boat, and we also love that since the re-opening and renovations, guests can return to this area of the boat!
  • Infirmary returns us to the bellows of the ship as Dr. Edwin Master and his wife Graceful Gale, has taken over the third-class passenger quarters and corridors to engage on his dasterdly surgeries. While those in the First-Class are dazzled by operating theater performances, the gore and organs of his patients are strewn around.
The third-class passengers and patients are just as much a threat as they build up their strength to overthrow the maniacs who pray on them.
  • Feast returns again, with the Chef, who started as a butcher on the ship, with hopes to become the Head Chef. As he waits and waits, he became ungrateful to the First-Class Passengers who could not appreciate his precious cuts of meat. To resolve this matter he begins to broaden his horizons as to his cuts of meat.
Are you going to just be passing through, or will you get a more intimate look at the chef’s butchery?
  • Big Top Terror is at the heart of the Dark Harbor off boat experiences. Set amongst the carnival rides of the experience, this dark big top brings with it The Ringmaster who lures those into his dark maze of cursed items and monsters such as the Pumpkin Carver. Are you able to survive the horrors and the Ringmaster’s henchmen?
  • Breakout is the continuation of prior years B340 maze, as it follows Samuel the Savage, who murdered other passengers, but in this continuation, they make it to port, and Samuel is dragged off the ship, no longer lost in time, but thrown in a cell in the seaside jail until he escapes. Step into his shoes as he hides from authorities and the voices urge him to kill.
This is an interesting change from the previous story where he mysteriously disappears from the room before he can experience justice. But it allows a unique experience where you are the monster.
  • It was a lot of fun, the Queen Mary does a good job at building amazing mazes, entertainment, and selecting food and drinks for their events. I highly recommend that you head over to their site and pick up some tickets now, while they are still available.

Pick up your tickets Here! The event runs from now through to November 2nd, 2024.
