So spoke Prospero in Shakespeare’s The Tempest, and so now is this magical classic a night to behold in The Tempest: An Immersive Experience at the ‘Shakespeare Center LA. Board the ship to begin your voyage to Italy, but take heed and be cautious as the raging tempest leaves you shipwrecked. Hurry to shore and find you’re on an enchanted isle with much to explore. Be transported to the very isle of Shakespeare’s imagination and venture through tunnels, uncover clues, and recite incantations while sipping on curated handcrafted cocktails inspired by the island herself.

There are various times to reserve your tickets, starting at 7pm, an hour before showtime, and in 20 minute increments. The earlier you arrive the more time you have at your disposal to explore the wonders of this space. The details are spectacular and it’s everything I could want in an immersive theatrical experience, from the costumes to the live music, the acting, and the set and lighting. Even the bathroom doors adorn Shakespeare’s speech.

Brilliant performances by equity actors, I just soaked it all in. And although it always takes me a minute to catch on to the old Elizabethan prose I felt quite comfort in it much earlier on. The space has not one bad seat in the house. The only real critique I have is how soon it will all be over and the final curtain drops on this, his final play.
