Tornadus inbound!
Batten down the hatches, get down in the storm cellar and grab your ruby slippers, Trainers! Forecast shows strong winds on the way! Alternatively, find Helen Hunt and a Dodge Ram so we can get to some real storm chasing. (Twister. 1996 blockbuster. Look it up! It’s a great film.) Anyway, from today February 4th, 1:00pm till February 25th, 1:00pm we’ll have the chance to run down this Cyclone Pokemon.
Tornadus is a Generation five Legendary Pokemon, and part of a trio called the forces of nature. Paired with its fellows, Thunderus and Landorus, it forms the basis of some of Unova’s more interesting legends. It’s said that Tornadus and Thunderus tore through Unova, only able to be subdued by Landorus and the songs of another Legendary Pokemon, Meloetta.
Tornadus is also notable for being a pure Flying Type! Something, even now, very rarely seen. All three of the forces of nature have two forms – a genie looking Incarnate form, which is what we’re going to see in these raids, and a beastly form called its Therian form, with Tornadus looking like a big green bird. I’m assuming we’ll be Raiding that at a later time, much the same way Giratina was handled.
Spotlight on Tornadus
As mentioned above, this pure Flying type Legendary Pokemon is from Generation Five. Pokedex information on this Pokemon is sparse, but we do know that its lower half is wrapped in swirling clouds. It travels through the sky at 200mph and the winds it generates are powerful enough to tear up houses.
It has a Max CP of 3345, Attack of 266, Defense of 164 and Stamina of 188. Pretty powerful attacker! In terms of Fast Attacks, you have Bite and Air Slash (STAB). For Charge Attacks we’ve got Grass Knot, Dark Pulse, Hyper Beam and Hurricane (STAB)
So, what about Raiding against this Mean Green Genie?
Being pure Flying Type it has three weaknesses: Electric, Rock and Ice. So, your best options for teams will be Raikou, Zapdos, Magnezone, Articuno and Regice. Ice and Electric Types are going to be your best bet only because Tornadus has the possibility of using Grass Knot which is going to destroy Rock and especially Rock/Ground Types. But if you’re in a large group and just want to get your licks in, Golem and Rhyperior are also good bets, along with Mamoswine and Smack Down Tyranitar.
And there you have it, Trainers! A little information on the new Legendary that, I’m sure, you’ll soon add to your teams! As per usual, I wish you the best of luck!
