Winter Fest OC is back at the Orange County fairgrounds. We wanted to check out how much of a family fun and friendly experience this is.
The experience starts off with a three-room photo-op and activity zone for families and children. The first room is filled with a beautiful garden tunnel with sparkling icicle lights and so many photo-ops, like a flower wall, a frozen throne, a faux waterfall, a magical well, light up displays, and a Christmas tree that you can put your face in the middle of!
The second room was dedicated to a beautiful model train setup that was maintained by several workers. There was a post office where kids could send letters to Santa. Additionally, there were displays and lightboxes showcasing several beautiful ways that people around the world celebrate Christmas or other holidays during the holiday season. They even included a display showcasing what types of dishes families share this time of year in other countries.
The third room was dedicated to Santa’s workshop. With photo-ops in reindeer rooms, in the sleigh itself, and not to mention a chance for your child to meet with and talk to Santa. Perfect for your yearly Christmas card. Once the kids were done with the photo-ops, it was time to hit all the fun activities in this room. Within Santa’s workshop you could play with the knobs and dials of the tinsel makers, do your best to throw presents down chimneys, or deliver cookies to Santa with a very unique Plinko game. For those looking for maybe a keepsake to take home, there was also a crafting section in the room. Your kids could draw pictures or work on small projects.
Once you stepped out of those three rooms you were officially in Winter Fest OC’s outdoor experiences. Most people are coming to the event for their massive sledding hill for adults and children to enjoy. There was also a Snow Play Area for the little ones. In the Snow Play Area they included a much smaller sledding hill slide, an open snow play, and a really fun mini-ride where kids could sit on an inflatable tube and be pulled around in a circle on the snow. This was great for kids who were too scared to go down the larger slide.
Those weren’t the only festivities available at the park. There is also ice skating for an additional purchase, which is fun for the whole family. If there are members of the family who are not good at ice skating, you can rent a support sled for $15, that you can hold on to while you skate around the rink.
While you wait for the park to get darker so you can enjoy the majesty and beauty of all the lights there are plenty of carnival rides and games. There are also some insanely scary rides for the adrenaline seeking children and parents in attendance.
There were so many amazing food options which included typical fair food items like burgers, barbecue, fried foods, french fries, but even a crab meat grilled cheese, full size pizzas, and even Korean corn dogs. There was ample seating for people to enjoy their meals, but if you were a high roller, you could rent a VIP igloo and have your own private space filled with comfortable chairs and fire pits to keep you warm.
We ended our night sitting around the backside light-up house twinkling and dancing to pre-programmed music while character actors representing abominable snowmans, ice princesses, and many more entertained our children.
If you’re looking for a fun family-friendly event to get your kids in the Christmas mood, then this experience definitely fits the bill. Get your tickets and more Here.
