Nerd Taste Of New York – New Year’s Eve Events In The Big Apple!

So you are going to be in New York for the holidays, and want to ring in the New Year right? Well I’m here to help.

Visit Times Square

The infamous ball drop every year is the staple of New Years. Everywhere else is simply trying to emmulate it. Regardless of what the rest of the site says, this is the New Year capitol, and if you aren’t in New York to celebrate, then you are just celebrating less, or later in the day. (That’s how timezones work.)

The businesses in Times Square also like to get into the action of the holiday, as Madame Tussauds NYC, Dave and Busters, and Planet Hollywood are all offering the ability for their fans and patrons to celebrate the New Year. You can head in, cheer with the rest, and snag a bite to eat. If you are in the area though, but be warned, the crowds will get large, and the likelyhood of your seeing the ball, through the crowd, is very low.

AMC 42nd New Year’s Party

In their 6 story building, the AMC loves to turn their building into the New Years hot spot, showcasing a proper space for people who want to get off the street, but still see the ball drop. Levels 4, 5, and 6 are specifically only for adults, with a five hour open bar, mini-buffet, and live music.

The 4th and 5th floor are open for mixing, mingling and celebrating the festivities, but the 6th floor will be limited to the VIP tickets, and has tbe est view of the Ball Drop.

General Admission tickets start at $99, and get you access for the bar from 7:00 p.m. til 1:00 a.m., and includes a Champagne Toast at Midnight, and complimentary festive NYE party favors to help you celebrate. Get your tickets for this event Here.

AMC 42nd Family Fun New Year’s Party

Did that party sound fun, but you got the kids this year, and don’t want to miss out on partying late at night? Well AMC 42nd still has you covered with their party. Specifically on the 3rd floor.

The 3rd floor will have live music, pay per play arcades, PG13, and below, movies playing all night, and concessions selling snacks and drinks all night.

The most important thing though, is since this is the family floor, the location is an alcohol-free zone. So you don’t have to worry about a drunk frat boy making a bad impression on your children, which in New York on New Year’s, is pretty rare.

You can’t just drop your kids off here, and party on the 5th through 6th floor though, as minors at this event must be accompanied by an adult to be here. Nice try super dad.

It’s important to note that the 3rd floor does not give patrons a live view of the Ball Drop, but they will still have a count, and there will be complimentary festive NYE party favors to help you celebrate. Tickets start at $60 and can be purchased Here.

Crawl ‘Til The Ball Falls

For those looking to get drunk this New Year’s, then the Crawl ‘Till The Ball Falls Pub Crawl might be just the perfect thing for you. Starting at the Fat Buddha, and making their way through 13 bars around town, this pub crawl will get your legs moving!

Participating bars include Fat Buddha, 2A, Arlene’s Grocery, AWOL Bar & Grill, Crocodile Lounge, Lucky, Mama’s Bar, Professor Thom’s, Stone Creek Bar NYC, The Lantern Comedy Club, The SKINnY Bar and Lounge, Two Bit’s Retro Arcade, and The Watering Hole.

Wristbands get you the drink specials at the location, so if you want to be able to enjoy no cover charges, $3-4 Beers, and $5-$6 well drinks/shots, then you’ll need to pick up your tickets for $15 Here, but if you are going with a group, you can save money by buying a 4 pack for $45.

Beetle House Last Halloween

We’ve covered Beetle House in Los Angeles, (See that Here), before, and have stopped by their New York location prior. For the uninitiated, Beetle House is a year round bar, that is dedicated to the celebration of Halloween, and all things burton-esc. While Zach Neil opened the location originally as a pop up in 2016, Beetle House is now a resident of the fin city, and has even opened a location in Hollywood (again, See that Here), and Washington D.C..

While the venue is small, suited for 45 people, they too want to get into the New Year’s game! They are asking people to dress up in Halloween costumes, and celebrate one last Halloween, before they ring in the New Year with a champagne toast at the stroke of midnight.

There are no tickets needed for this event, but if you want to eat dinner there, they recommend that you make reservations Here.

What ever you do this New Year’s Eve, just make sure to be safe, and don’t drink and drive!
