Solosis hovers on over – October Community Day

Hey there, Trainers! Welcome back to another Community Day Spotlight! This time we’re talking about Unova’s very own Psychic Type jellybean, Solosis!
The event runs on the 12th of October, taking place from 2:00 pm till 5:00 pm local time.

Bonuses are:

3X Catch Stardust.

2X Catch Candy.

2X chance for Candy XL to be awarded during catches so long as you’re Level 31 or Higher.

Incense launched during event hours will last for 3 hours.

Lure Modules, though, will last for one hour. They can draw in Solosis between 2:00pm and 9:00pm with the same shiny odds as during the event proper.

Photobombs.

1 additional Special Trade may be performed. (2:00pm till 10:00pm)

Trades will cost 50% less Stardust. (2:00pm till 10:00pm)

Stickers available in all the usual ways will be Solosis themed.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the star of the show!

Spotlight on Solosis

Introduced in Generation V as a counterpart to the Gothita line, this gooey little guy isn’t exactly flush with information in regards to Pokedex data. What we do know is that the liquid coating it sports will allow it to live happily in any environment; possibly up to and including the vacuum of space. If it takes too hard of a knock, though, it will leak. It scares away foes by using psychic powers and it can communicate using its mind, speaking to others telepathically.

Spotlight on Duosion

The Pokedex tells us that this little guy has two brains… or more accurately, one brain divided in two, each half able to think independently. Its power can range over half a mile when both sides of its mind are in-sync with one another, but because it rarely manages to have both brains on the same page, this is a rarity and it’s more likely to be as unpredictable as can be, with each side of its brain acting on its own.

Spotlight on Reuniclus

I do like the little story told by these designs and their names. Solo-sis – a single, or solo, brain splits in two. A duo of brains, duo-sion. When those brains come back together, or reunite… reuniclus! Plus, I always think of this little guy as a gummy bear. It went from jelly bean to a jujubee shape to having little ears and a sort of mammal-ish shape. Was this an intentional design choice on Gamefreak and the Pokemon Company’s part? Who knows.

What we DO know is that when it uses those giant hands, it can crush stone with them. While it’s flush with psychic energy, it likes to get its hands dirty. It’s also a fan of firm hand shakes, with Reuniclus shaking one another’s liquid-coated paws to join their brain power together! Firm or not, though, no-one likes a moist hand shake.

Will it shake your hand or rock your world in Pokemon GO, though!?

Well… with a Max CP of 3309, Attack of 214, Defense of 148 and a Stamina of 242, it’s pretty average. There are far mightier pure Psychic types out there, unfortunately for our jelly-bellied buddy. That Attack is no joke and the Stamina is fantastic but that Defense really lets it down.

As a pure Psychic type it resists only Fighting and Psychic while taking extra damage from Bug, Ghost and Dark Type attacks.

Speaking of attacks, you have Hidden Power and Zen Headbutt as your fast Attacks, the latter of which is STAB. Charged Attacks are Thunder, Shadow Ball, Psyshock and Future Sight, the latter two of which are STAB. The Community Day exclusive attack is Charm, which is a Fairy Type attack so offers coverage against Dark Types.

Shiny Solosis is a more teal color than the minty green of its standard form but the difference isn’t terribly drastic so double check those monsters carefully!
