What To Do For Halloween In Los Angeles In 2023!

As always, while we do have our monthly Nerd Out article, we like to keep the Halloween events in their own little article, because Los Angeles is no stranger to love for the season, and because there are so any, we would hate for any of them to disappear in the normal list of events.

First and foremost, let’s talk about our returning experiences!

Universal Studios Hollywood – Halloween Horror Nights

This experience is always next level, with a ton of classic styled horror houses, and a couple amazingly new ones like their Stranger Things and Last of Us themed experiences this year.

The thing that makes this Halloween themed event a must of course is their Terror Tram. This takes over the theme parks traditional behind the scenes tram ride, and turns it into a unique experience where everyday Angelinos can walk the backlot without having to pay for the VIP Experience from the park.

The Terror Tram drops you off at Bates Motel and allows you to alk through that set as well as the War of The Worlds and recently added Nope set while also being haunted and harassed by scare actors.

Another way that this experience exceeds expectations is in the use of not just visual and audio to terrorize, but their ability to use smell to the full effect!

Halloween Horror Nights runs at the park from September 7th all the way through October 31st!

Los Angeles Haunted Hayride

Can you even call yourself from Los Angeles if you haven’t participated in Los Angeles’ amazing Haunted Hayride in Griffith Park?

This iconic experience usually boasts around three mazes, and a Hayride experience that can’t be beat either as a group ticket, or sold individually. Access to the experience is free, and includes a couple scare actors in the general area, so if you want an affordable experience, this is definitely it.

They also host a series of food trucks and pop-up eateries inside the event, and last year they had an amazing Halloween themed band performing for the crowd.

While tickets aren’t required, if you are making your way out there, then you can’t avoid the Hayride. It’s a rather long, fun and engaging experience!

Delusion: Nocturnes & Nightmares

Part Show, Part Experience, Delusion has been giving guests to their events a unique narrative story since 2011. Their newest show, Nocturnes & Nightmares, will be debuting soon and takes you deeper into the ever expanding Delusion saga.

Magic of the Jack O’Lanterns Los Angeles

Starting on September 22nd and continuing through October 1st Magic of the Jack O’Lanterns will be coming to Los Angeles. There will be massive pumpkins, hand-carved jack-o’-lanterns, and light displays. This experience is more dedicated for the children, with a series of displays. This includes the sea, a pirate ship, dinosaurs, dragons, and more.

Pre-sale tickets go on sale starting mid-August and regular tickets closer to the end of August.

Tickets start at $19.99 for children and $24.99 for adults.

Guests can sign up To learn when tickets drop.

The event will take place at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area, 750 S Santa Anita Ave, South El Monte, CA 91733.

Shaqtoberfest

Returning for its second year, Shaqtoberfest is kicking off on September 28 and continuing through to October 31.

You can actually check out our review and discussion of the event from last year Here!

This is once again an event that is more focused upon children. The event once the door opens up is dedicated to light fun for all families and a place for kids to collect candy safely.

Later in the evening, when the scare hour starts, the scare actors come out, the children’s events close, and mazes open with horror aspects added.

You can also head to Here to sign up to receive presale ticket information when available!

The event is going to be returning to The Queen Mary, 1126 Queens Highway, Long Beach, CA 90802.

So which event are you going to hit this spooky season?
